I read nonfiction for information, fiction for truth.

Michael M. Thomas
About This Quote

I read nonfiction for information, fiction for truth. The most important thing to understand about people is that there are two different types of people. There are those who read nonfiction and those who read fiction. Nonfiction is considered factual information.

It’s the kind of information that you can take to the bank and check out. On the other hand, fiction is made up. It’s only there to entertain you.

As Shakespeare wrote in "Hamlet," “The play’s the thing; freshness is the beauty;/Without reproach, without fear, without hatred;/And, malady, mere idle show." Fiction can be interesting but it cannot be trusted or accepted as fact.
